My tree is not drinking water, what is wrong with it?
The trees have been freshly cut and placed directly in water upon receipt, so they have been drinking since they arrived from the North Pole. If your tree stops drinking water, don’t be alarmed! The tree has simply become “full”; it’s leaves and twigs are fully turgid. Trees with heavy flock do not need water.
Help! My bowl is leaking.
Perino’s will give you a complimentary bag of Soil Moist should your tree stand leak. To use, pour out half of the beads into the tree bowl, then fill the bowl with enough water to cover the beads. The beads will absorb the water and puff up into a gel solution so that there is no excess liquid in the bowl – voila!
Why is my wreath/garland turning brown?
Wreaths and garland will turn brown if exposed to direct sunlight. To ensure the longevity of your fresh cut greens, be sure to display them in a covered/shaded area.
Are your trees treated with fire retardant?
Plain green trees are not fireproof, but the white paper mache-like flocking on our flocked trees serves as a fire retardant!
Is flock safe for children/pets?
Flock is perfectly safe for children and pets. It is basically paper mache!
My poinsettias on my front porch don’t look too good – what’s wrong?
Poinsettias are tropical plants. If you are going to keep them outside on a porch, you need to be sure to bring them in when it is under 50 degrees Fahrenheit or if it is very windy; they are very fragile! See a brown leaf or two? Be sure to pinch off any brown leaves as you see them to keep your poinsettia in tip top shape.
How should I water my poinsettia?
Poinsettias can last for a long time inside, and like to get a little dry in-between waterings. Think: not as much water, but more often. Typically, this means watering about every 7 days when inside, and every 3-5 days when kept outside. It is best to always check the soil before watering, and do not water if the soil feels moist. Always make sure the poinsettia is not sitting in water and has proper drainage. If you have a decorative sleeve on your poinsettia, please remove it before watering!
Are poinsettias toxic?
Poinsettias are slightly toxic to animals. If you have a pet that likes to munch on plants, please keep them out of reach to be safe!
